The PastorCast

PastorCast | An information resource for Pastors, Administrators and staff.

Archive for February, 2008

BillThis category was near the top of the list of topics Pastors told us they wanted to learn more about and from the number of questions that were asked I can see we will need many more PastorCasts to cover this topic well. This is a compelling discussion of the core issues surrounding the “not for profit” designation of churches and ministries by the Internal Revenue Service. Our guest, Bill Sims of the Certified Public Accounting firm of Salmon Sims Thomas of Dallas, TX, presented a packed program addressing the essential questions about the Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3) from the application process to the reporting requirements for tithers’ and other givers’ cash and non-cash contributions. He addresses related IRS code sections and the most frequently used reporting forms. This Pastor Cast is appropriate for Pastors, Church Business Administrators, Church Treasurers, and other church leaders. It may be good listening for a bookkeeper serving churches as well as church and ministry audit committee members. If you have any questions regarding what Bill said or other areas of taxation or accounting please let us know so we can plan future calls accordingly.
